Auto racing may be perceived as a solitary sport. As a boxer enters the ring, so it seems alone driver takes to the track and by chance of individual success or shortcoming, wins or loses alone. But in truth, racing is very much a team sport, perhaps the epitome of one. For in no other form of sport do such a wide and disparately talented group of people come together to compete and win. The team owner, the driver, the engineer and the mechanic each bring a critical skill to race day. Each one, without the other, cannot succeed at the ultimate goal – winning the race.
